Chess Knight - December 15, 7pm-9pm

Little Brown Jug: "We will be hosting our usual Chess Knight on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Chess Knight is a fun evening of casual chess and beers. We have had a wide range of skill levels show up to these which is great. That way, everyone gets to play a few games at their level! Those under the age of 18 are allowed to participate provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you would like to play timed games, the 'Chess Clock' app can be utilized on a phone. We have sanitizing wipes available."

David Woodbury - 1955 - 2021

 

I met David at the old Winnipeg Chess Club on Selkirk Avenue around 1971.  As far as I can determine / remember he did not play rated CFC chess after 1977 (the 1977 CFC annual ratings show a very respectable 1840 rating), but I stand to be corrected.

A search of the Winnipeg Free press archives also indicated that he was on the MCA Executive in 1975, and also a CFC Governor in 1975.  

Some will know him as Jack Woodbury's son, and some will know Jack as David's father, depending on whom you met first !
