Father of the chess playing Walker family has passed away. They were active locally in the late nineties.
I did not know he was an accomplished runner - still Manitoba record holder for the marathon, an incredible 2:19:06.

Thank for posting this Tony. I hadn't heard, and I'm sad to hear that. Bob's kids, Sean and Erin, played chess in elementary school with my daughters, and I met Bob at some of the events. Bob helped arrange and organize the chess club at my kids school. He was a really nice guy. I never realized that he was THE Bob Walker who was the Manitoba Marathon champ.
